In 1976, Tim entered the film industry and quickly joined NABET Local 15. He worked on many of the local's most high profile feature films, TV movies, and documentaries from 1977 through 1983.
In the early 1980s, Tim created Wallace Productions. His first project was "China T.I.E.S.", a medical documentary he produced, directed and photographed for a group of US Opthalmologists who went to China to teach and perform cataract surgery.
Through most of the 1980s Tim worked as a lighting technician (gaffer) on large budget national commercials and as a cinematographer on on local spots. In the late 1980s, Tim was impacted by a serious eye disorder which rendered him blind for two years. After many operations at Johns Hopkins' Wilmer Clinic, Tim regained sight and entered Columbia Business School earning an MBA in 1991.
After graduation Tim joined Lehman Brothers as a VP and Equity Research Analyst working under a senior analyst covering entertainment and media stocks. In 1992, Tim was promoted to Senior Equity Research Analyst and given the broadcast sector to cover. Broad industry deregulation led to many radio and TV IPOs and financings which Tim was a major participant in by introducing these stocks to a growing number of interested institutional investors. In the late 1990s, Tim was recruited to Banc of America Securities (now Merrill Lynch) as a Managing Director and Senior Equity Reseaarch Analyst to cover entertainment and broadcasting and help build an equity research media franchise for the company. Tim left Wall Street and in 209 joined Emerging Pictures, a NY based film distribution company, as their CFO. By using proprietary software and broadband technology, EP distributes content to a network of in-cinema servers. The company has exclusive distribution rights to premium cultural content from Europe including filmed operas from La Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House in London, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona as well as filmed ballets from the Bolshoi in Moscow and the Royal Ballet in London. The company also sub-distributes most of the major independent films to its network of art houses, museums, performing arts centers, and other cultural institutions.
